CHAMPVA Health Insurance
Available to spouses and children of veterans rated 100% P&T. Covers 75% of most healthcare costs after an annual deductible. This can be worth tens of thousands of dollars per year.
Chapter 35 DEA
Dependents Educational Assistance provides a monthly stipend of up to $1,000+ for spouses and children to use toward college, vocational training, or apprenticeships. Available for 100% P&T veterans.
Added Monthly Compensation
Veterans rated 30% or higher receive additional monthly compensation for a dependent spouse. At 100%, this is over $100/month extra. Having a spouse can push you to a higher effective rate.
Survivor Benefits (DIC)
If a 100% P&T veteran dies from a service-connected condition, the surviving spouse may be eligible for Dependency and Indemnity Compensation—a monthly tax-free payment for life.
